Host Ferroviario De Maputo halted First Bank’s 5-game unbeaten run to reach the final of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women (FIBAACCW).

Ferroviario defeated the Elephant Girls 72-56 points to advance to a consecutive final and face 5 time champions, InterClube of Angola on Sunday.

Four players led the way for Ferroviario in double figures; Virginia Tyson Thomas (16), Ingvild Mucauro (16), Amelia Macamo (13) and Anabela Adriana Cossa (13).

Jasmine Nwajei was the only player on double digits for the Elephant Girls. She had a game high 24 points, shot 56.25 percent from the floor, 3 for 6 from behind the arc and 3/6 from the free throw line in 32 minutes.

First Bank struggled in the first half (29-33) but gained momentum in the third quarter as they outscored the host 19-15. The Elephant Girls scored 11 points in the last quarter which was not enough to overcome a determined Ferroviario De Maputo.

The Zone 3 representatives suffered
34 turn overs 10 more than that of their opponents, Ferroviario.

First Bank have missed the final of the FIBAACCW for a fifth successive time.

While Ferroviario De Maputo battle InterClube in the final, First Bank will play against Vita Club in the third place game on Sunday.
