Nigeria international, Sone Aluko, put on a wonderful display in Reading’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United in their third round clash in the Emirates FA Cup.

The Red Devils were already 2-0 up courtesy of goals from Juan Mata, who converted a VAR, Video Assistant Referee, awarded penalty and Romelu Lukaku before Aluko was thrown into the deep in the second half.

The 29-year-old wide forward came off the bench to inspire his Championship side, who for most part of the game were the better side at Old Trafford.

But despite his best efforts, which included cutting through the United defense with a superb through pass that set up team mate, Callum Harriot, who would shoot straight at goalkeeper, Sergio Romero in goal for the hosts.

A spirited performance from Reading but United held on for their fifth win in as many matches under caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The results means United are through to the fourth round of the FA cup, while Reading are now left to focus on surviving the drop from the Championship.

Up next for United, they travel to Wembley for a big date with Tottenham in the Premier League while Reading hosts Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet.
