Super Eagles B head coach Salisu Yusuf says he is confident of a good performance from his wards in the African Nations Championship qualifier (CHAN2023Q) against the Black Galaxies of Ghana on Sunday.

Yusuf and his home-based side are in Cape Coast, Ghana where they will face the Ghanaians in the final round of the CHAN qualifiers for a place in next year’s tournament in Algeria.

“I think the boys are in good condition and we hope to have a good result here,” began Salisu.

Salisu admitted that his side’s preparation was not better than that of their hosts, but he is still hopeful for a decent result in Cape Coast.

“Our preparation is not up to their own, but I think we have the quality to contain them and still get a good result.

When quizzed about his side’s knowledge of the opponents, Saliu stated that his side will try to explore their weakness on Sunday.

“We played them during the WAFU Cup in 2017, we beat them 2-0 in the group stages and we lost 4-1 to them in the final. Although, it is not the the same team and the same coach, but I still believe they have the strength as a team and we will see how we can be able to contain their strength and explore their weakness, stressed the former Enugu Rangers coach.

Nigeria will face the Black Galaxies at the Cape Coast Stadium in the first leg of the playoff on Sunday. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 5pm Nigerian time.
