Nigerian clubs will begin their respective 2022/2023 CAF InterClub competition journey, as the preliminary round gets underway across Africa this weekend.
The quartet of Rivers United, Plateau United (Champions League) and Remo Stars, Kwara United (Confederation Cup) are Nigeria’s representatives.
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Rivers United have a seemingly easy task when they face Liberian champions Watanga FC at the Adokiyie Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Nigeria’s other representatives in the Champions League, Plateau United have already arrived in Gabon for the first leg of their fixture against Gabonese champions AS Stade Mandji.

Meanwhile, in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, Remo Stars will leave for Morocco on Saturday ahead of their continental debut against AS FAR at the Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.
On the other hand, Kwara United, who are Nigeria’s second representative in the Confederation Cup, will host AS Douanes of Niger at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday.
The return leg of this preliminary round will take place next weekend, with the winner on aggregate progressing to the next stage.
