African champions, the Nigeria Super Falcons, have been named the 2025 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year in Rabat, Morocco, www.aclsports.com reports.

The award, announced on Wednesday, 19th November, at the CAF Awards ceremony, crowns a historic year for the 10-time WAFCON champions, who are winning it for the third consecutive time and the seventh overall.

Nigeria’s triumph builds on their remarkable run at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, played in early 2025 on Moroccan soil, where they staged one of the most dramatic finals in the tournament’s history. From 2–0 down, the Super Falcons roared back to defeat hosts Morocco 3–2, securing their 10th continental crown in unforgettable fashion.

Across the tournament, Nigeria were dominant: winning five of six matches, keeping four clean sheets, and conceding only two goals from open play. Their blend of defensive organization, midfield control, and attacking efficiency made them stand out in a highly competitive field.

The Super Falcons were shortlisted alongside Morocco and Ghana for the 2025 honour. Morocco, runners-up at WAFCON 2024, reached back-to-back finals after also finishing second in 2022, while Ghana completed the trio following a narrow victory over South Africa in the third-place match.

The victory further cements Nigeria’s status as Africa’s undisputed queens of women’s football, continuing a legacy defined by resilience, excellence, and an unyielding winning spirit.
