Team Captains have now been appointed for Team Nigeria at the 2022 Commonwealth Games hosted by Birmingham and set to commence later Thursday 28th July.

Appointed to lead the Nigerian Men’s team is Para powerlifter, Nnamdi Innocent. A veteran athlete with multiple African titles and a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympics to his name, Innocent will be saddled with the responsibility of looking after the affairs of every member of the Nigerian contingent.

Also appointed alongside Nnamdi innocent is the world’s 2nd ranked wrestler, Blessing Oborududu. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist is a formidable member of the contingent and her wealth of experience as Africa’s sole representative on the United World Wrestling (UWW) Athletes Commission will be important for this role.

With Nigerians fully invested in the proceedings of Team Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games after being awakened by the success of World Record Hurdles Holder, Tobi Amusan at the World Athletics Championships; Team Nigeria will seek to leave no stone unturned to achieve success at the Games.
