Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie have both been shortlisted for the 2025 CAF Women’s Player and Goalkeeper of the Year awards, www.aclsports.com reports.
Announced on Sunday, Ajibade is one of three finalists for the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award. The Paris Saint-Germain Féminine forward enjoyed a remarkable year for both club and country, playing a key role in Nigeria’s historic run to the 2024 WAFCON title, held in Morocco in 2025, where she was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
She also helped Atletico Madrid Femenino secure Champions League qualification before moving to PSG Féminine in the summer. Ajibade joins Morocco captain Ghizlane Chebbak (Al Hilal), the WAFCON 2024 top scorer, and Sanaa Mssoudy (AS FAR) on the shortlist.
Despite a standout performance for club and country, and winning the WAFCON 2024 final’s Most Valuable Player award, Esther Okoronkwo missed out on the top three.
Nigeria’s representation continued in the goalkeeping category, with Chiamaka Nnadozie earning a deserved place among the final three nominees for the 2025 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper has made the shortlist for the third consecutive year, having won the award in the previous two editions. Nnadozie showcased exceptional form for the Super Falcons at WAFCON 2024 and with Paris FC. She is shortlisted alongside Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi (AS FAR) and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini (Mamelodi Sundowns).
Both Nigerians will hope to cap off a remarkable year when the winners are announced on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.
