Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal for Wolves in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday night, www.aclsports.com reports.

The lanky striker, who arrived in England in the summer, has found life to be a bit difficult, but eventually grabbed his first league goal in the narrow defeat at the Emirates.

Arokodare was surprisingly omitted from Eric Chelle’s final squad for this month’s AFCON on Thursday, but came off the bench to score his first league goal for the Premier League bottom club.

Table toppers Arsenal came into the game needing all three points after last week’s loss at Villa, but Wolves made life difficult for them. With the game still deadlocked, Wolves manager Rob Edwards sent Arokodare on for Jorgen Strand Larsen in the 69th minute.

A minute later, goalkeeper Sam Johnstone’s own goal handed Arsenal the lead, but the visitors kept fighting, and in the 90th minute, they got rewarded. Matheus Mane’s fine delivery was headed home by Arokodare. Their first goal on the road since September.

In the fourth minute of additional time, another own goal from Yerson Mosquera restored Arsenal’s lead, and they went ahead to see out the game.

Having grabbed his first league goal, Arokodare took his season tally to three goals from 14 appearances for Wolves and will be keen to add to his tally when they face Brentford in their next league outing next weekend.
