AJC Qualifiers: Marylove Edwards and 11 others arrive Togo

Nigerian teen star, Marylove Edwards led 11 others for the Africa Junior Tennis Championship qualifiers in Lome, Togo on Sunday.

The competition which is expected to commence on Tuesday will run till Wednesday, January 16th.

According to nigeriatennislive.com, the team made up of six boys and six girls will be coached by Abel Ubiebi and Patience Onebamboin.

Ubiebi said,”They all appear enthusiastic and are raring to go. They have also shown positive attitudes in training which is very important ahead of such an important tournament. I believe we shall return victorious.”

US-based Edwards, Mary Udofia and Rebecca Ekpeyong will compete in the U-16 Girls category while Iye Onoja, Serena Teluwo and Oiza Yakubu will play in the U-14 category.

In the U-16 Boys event, UK based Andu Mukhtar, fast-rising youngster, Matthew Abamu and Usman Kushimo will lead the charge while Ganiyu Mubarak, Ibrahim Suleiman and Joshua Maxwell will compete for honours in the U-14 event.

The main African Junior Championship is scheduled to take place later this year.
