NNL Super8: This Is the worst match we’ve ever played, says Agbo

Delta Force head coach Chukwuma Agbo has declared that Sunday’s 3-0 opening day loss to Insurance of Benin in the NNL Super Eight playoffs at the Enyimba Stadium is the worst match his team has ever played since he took charge of the club.

Agbo is not foreign to making famous comments after games and the recent one after his team was bamboozled by the Benin Arsenals will go into the archives as another on the list. Delta Force found themselves 2-0 down within the opening fifteen minutes and never really looked like finding their way back into the game.

“Since I took over as a coach, I think this is the worst match we’ve ever played,” Agbo told www.aclsports.com after the game.

“Some days are like that. Let me not point at anything, we will go back and correct ourselves. The defeat means we have to go back to the drawing board. We still have two matches. Our destiny is still in our hands, if we can get six points maybe a miracle will happen,” added the former Rangers coach.

Still on Sunday’s game, Force had centre back Nduka Eze sent off in the 32nd minute for a last-man offence, a decision which further diminished any hopes of a hopeful comeback by Agbo’s wards before Emmanuel Uangboje sealed victory for Insurance in the second half.

The coach disagrees with the decision:

“The red card was uncalled for,” he lamented

“I don’t complain about referees but go and look at it again, it was uncalled for. Another thing again is that it depleted our side. When you’re losing 2-0, and when you’re trying to come up, a red card is issued again, it dampens your morale.

“Apart from the red card, I think the officiating was above average.”

Delta Force currently lie joint-bottom of the Southern group in the Super Eight playoff with Shooting Stars who also lost 0-3 to Remo Stars on Sunday night. Both 3-0 losers – Delta Force and Shooting Stars – will face-off in a make or mar encounter at 12pm on Monday.

Monday’s Fixtures

– 8AM – Real Stars vs Gombe United
– 10AM – Kogi United vs Kada City
– 12PM – Delta Force vs Shooting Stars
– 2PM – Insurance FC vs Remo Stars
