Super Eagles World Cup star Abdullahi Shehu has boosted his former club Sokoto United with a cash promise ahead of their AITEO Cup Round of 32 game against Kano Pillars on Sunday.
Shehu, 25, started his playing career at his home town club, Sokoto United and has gone ahead to represent Nigeria at the Under-20 World Cup, the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.
Sokoto United, campaigning in Nigeria’s second tier football league, the Nigerian National League (NNL) only last weekend eliminated Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side MFM FC in their round of 64 tie in Lokoja.
Incidentally, United’s opponents on Sunday, Kano Pillars were the last team that Shehu played for in the Nigerian league before securing a move abroad in 2014.
The versatile player has now promised his Alma mater side a sum of one hundred thousand (Nigerian nairas) for every goal they score against Pillars.
“I’m just here to support you guys for the game that is coming up between Kano Pillars and Sokoto United,” began Shehu in a video message posted on his social media accounts.
