Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) basement side; Niger Tornadoes have parted company with head coach Erasmus Onu following a sequence of poor results. Onu was a shock appointment at the Ikoh Allah team less than two weeks to the start of this season’s league after team’s head coach Abubakar Bala was surprisingly dismissed by the new management team.

Tornadoes lost 0-2 to Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Sunday, a result that saw them drop to the bottom of the table for the first time in three years. “After due consultation during the management meeting this Tuesday. The management agreed to sack Technical Adviser Erasmus Onu,” read a club statement on Tuesday afternoon.

“This is due to the club (sic) performance recently, which the management is not comfortable about,” added the statement posted on their official Twitter handle.

Onu’s reign at Tornadoes started with an impressive away win at Kwara United on Match Day One and followed it up with a home win over but things turned for the worse as the team lost five matches on the bounce.

Onu becomes the first coaching casualty in the nine weeks old 2017/18 Nigeria Professional Football League season, living up to his tag of ‘sack-favourite’ in our season’s predictions. Here (https://aclsports.com/8416-2/

Onu’s first assistant, Hamza Abara will take charge of first team duties with immediate effect ahead of their next league game against Abia Warriors on Sunday.
