Commonwealth Games: NBF begins second phase trials

A total number of thirty two boxers are in camp for the second phase of the Nigeria Boxing Trials as part of the preparations ahead of the 21st Commonwealth Games, scheduled for Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to 15  2018.

The first phase was held at the Brai Ayonote Gymnasium of the National Stadium, Lagos on December 7th  2017.

Nigerian Army boxing team

The open trials enabled the federation select the boxers in the 56kg, 60kg, 75kg and 81kg for male, and 51kg, 60kg, 69kg, 75kg for female weight categories.

All African Games silver medalist, Lukman Lawal, African silver medalist, Yetunde Odunuga and All African silver medalist, Caroline Linus made the list.

The male boxers in camp include;

56kg – Rotimi Abayomi, Sanusi Abiodun, Fatai Sikiru and Henry Effiong

60kg-Oluremi Adedokun, Kazeem Soyoye, Ibrahim Aliu and Paul Patrick

69kg- Aminu Lawal, Adegoke Oye, Sogbamu Waheed and Osita Umey

81kg Sango Muri, Lukman Lawal, Dimeji Salami and Idowu Rasheed

Female boxers

51kg- Ifeoma Anthony, Ayi Oriyomi, Caroline Linus and Abasiama Moses

60kg -Tomiwa Sadiku, Yetunde Odunuga, Abibat Ismael and Fadilat Tijani

69kg- Oben Blessing, Bola Sogbamu, Rafiat Yaya and Oriola Itunu

75kg -Olamide Oluwamuyide, Toyin Adejumola and Millicent Umu
