The head coach of Plateau Peacocks, Yusuf Abdulkadir has boldly stated that his team intention to retain the Prudent Energy Handball title at the end of the 2019 season.

Abdulkadir told www.aclsports.com that having kept about 90 per cent of the players that helped them win the women’s league last year and also signing some players, their aim is go all out for the title again.

The ex international said, “I am well prepared for the challenge ahead of my team and looking forward to play beautiful handball. The first challenge is to reclaim that trophy; while the second challenge is to make sure my players are fit for international engagements.

“Plateau Peacocks is coming with four new players that are very good on the court and my opponents should not expect me to play the same way I did last season; my team is now re-branded”.

Speaking ahead of his team’s Matchday 1 clash against Edo Dynamos, Abdulkadir explained that his team aim to take the maximum points after they drew against them at the league in Lagos.

“We are currently camped in Jos and that is ahead of our first game against Edo Dynamos. We know them and they know us and we also know every team will want to beat us now after we surprised everyone to win the title last season; so, we are preparing like it is a final and we know a win in our first game of the season will be a great boost for us,” he told www.aclsports.com

Commenting on the constant invitation of Plateau Peacocks for national assignment, Abdulkadir said, “I am currently one of the happiest coaches in Nigeria; all the girls are working hard and are making the country proud at international championships”.
