CHAN Eagles newly invited striker Ibrahim Mustapha is hopeful his knowledge of Plateau United will help him if selected to feature when both teams clash in Super Eagles’ first game at the Pre-Season Invitational tournament on Wednesday.

Salisu Yusuf’s side are one of six teams participating in the week-long tournament in Kano, the first stage of their preparations for next January’s African Nations Championships and face the reigning league champions in Wedneday’s evening game.

Mustapha told after the team’s training session at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Tuesday evening that he is ready to give his best against the familiar foes.

“Quite alright, I’ve played against Plateau United for up to four games (in the league) and I did well in all the games,” Mustapha told www.aclsports.com

“Their defenders know me and I know their weak points so if the coaches select me, I will take them on and give my 100%,” added the former El-Kanemi Warriors attacker.

Mustapha has a battle in his hands if he hopes to get a look-in by the national team selectors. Fighting for attacking berths with Mustapha are last season’s league topscorer Anthony Okpotu, his Lobi Stars teammate Kingsley Eduwo and Victor Mbaoma formerly of Remo Stars.

Ever confident in his own abilities, Mustapha is ready to fight for a place to be in Morocco 2018.

“It (invitation to the CHAN team) is like a dream come true. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity and thank God I’ve gotten it. It’s now time for me to work hard and fight to make the list for the CHAN which I believe I will make by the grace of God.”

The CHAN Eagles will face Plateau United in Wednesday’s second game at the Sani Abacha Stadium, immediately after hosts Kano Pillars face Akwa United at 2pm at the same venue.
