Al Ahly coach Hossam El Badry has resigned from his position, a day after his team suffered a stunning 2-0 defeat to Uganda’s KCCA in the second matchday of the Caf Champions League group stage.
With one point claimed from two matches, Ahly are on the verge of elimination from the continental competition.
Esperance Tunis are topping Group A with 4 points, followed by Township Rollers of Botswana and KCCA, who both boast of 3 points each.
Ahly management accepted El Badry’s resignation but are yet to name an interim coach.
El Badry came on board in 2016, leading the Cairo-based side to claim two domestic league titles and reaching the final of last year’s Caf Champions League which they lost to Moroccans Wydad Casablanca.
However, the Red Devils have seen a dip in form of late, with their elimination from the Egyptian Cup sparking a furore among local supporters.
They will play next Township Rollers in July.
