Niger’s national Under-20 team, the Junior Menas on Sunday held their Nigerian counterparts to a 0-0 draw in a group stage game of the West African Football Union (WAFU) (UFOAB) zone Under-20 Championship to qualify for the semi-final of the competition going on in Lome, the Togolese capital.

The Nigeriens defeated Ghana 1-0 in their opening game on Friday bet met a stiffer opposition in Nigeria’s Flying Eagles at the Stade Municipal de Lome on Sunday evening.

Niger, whose star Ismael Issaka Souley was named the game’s most valuable player will now wait until Friday before playing their next game in the competition – the semi final.

Nigeria, captained by Enyimba left back Ikouwem Udo Utin have a winner takes all clash with Ghana on Wednesday to determine who joins Niger in the semi-final.

In Saturday’s games, Mali defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 while hosts Togo were beaten by the same scoreline by the Junior Teranga Lions of Senegal.
