Super Eagles pearl Alex Iwobi on Sunday sent out a message to Africa ahead of this weekend’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Zambia with a well-taken goal for his English side Arsenal.
On the 21st Anniversary of manager Arsene Wenger’s reign in charge of the North Londoners, his team strolled to a 2-0 home victory over newly promoted Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners took the lead through Spaniard Nacho Monreal in the first half before adding a second goal after half-time when a slick passing move on the counter-attack was emphatically finished off by Iwobi.
Iwobi has missed his side’s last two games having been sidelined by a Quadriceps Strain in Arsenal’s League cup win over Doncaster Rovers but was at the right place at the right time to score his first goal of the season on his return to the starting lineup.

The 21-year old was involved in the buildup and was still on hand to receive Alexis Sanchez’s super backheeled pass before burying the ball beyond Albion’s Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.
The win ensures Wenger’s side are now fifth on the log, a point behind north London rivals Tottenham in the chasing pack behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Iwobi’s participation will come as a timely boost for Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr who was unable to call on the talented star in their last games against Cameroon.
Iwobi is named among the 23 Super Eagles players that will convene in the Southern Nigerian city of Uyo on Monday for Saturday’s game.
