President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation attends UWW Referee and Coaches course

The President Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali has promised to improve the sport in general for both referees and coaches in the country.

Igali made the promise at the ongoing United World Wrestling Referee and Coaches Education course in the United Kingdom.

The Olympic champion told aclsports.com that the topics learnt, wrestling specific technical knowledge such as coaching, refereeing and safety rules updates will be imparted to both coaches and referees in Nigeria.

“I am in Manchester, UK for a professional development course which takes place from Nov 5-11. It’s been such a demanding and rewarding experience” he said.

“As you know the African Championship is coming up next year February and the officials of the game must be aware of the little changes in the elite sport”.

Daniel Igali revealed that Charles Villet from South Africa might attend the Governor Wike Challenge Cup later this month.

“With me at the course is Charles Villet from South Africa. He attended the 2016 Rio Olympics and the federation under my watch is trying everything possible to bring him to Nigeria for the Governor Wike Challenge Cup”, Igali noted

The UWW Referee and Coaches Education week is a 7 day event comprising educator course, workshops and practical sessions for referees of category 1/1S and national elite coaches.
