La Liga giants, Barcelona have dispelled rumours their game against Las Palmas has been postponed.
The club released a statement to confirm that contrary to reports, their game will indeed be played behind closed doors due to the violence that has taken place in the city in respect of the Catalan independence referendum.
“Given the exceptional nature of events, the Board of Directors have decided that FC Barcelona first team against Las Palmas will be played behind closed doors following the Professional Football League’s refusal to postpone the game,” the club said in a statement.

Barcelona had made a request for the match to be postponed, but were told by the LaLiga that they risked losing the three points if the game is cancelled.
So, the game will now be played in an empty stadium, with the safety of the crowd and players put into consideration.
