Ahead of the 2017 Africa female Cup of Nations, twenty Volleyball players are currently camped in Abuja, said the Secretary General of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Adamu Maikano.
The Africa Cup of Nation’s scheduled for Yaounde, Cameroon between 7th to 15th October, 2017 serves as a qualifier for the 2018 women world cup.
The National women volleyball team which had spent two weeks in camp are expected to leave Nigeria on the 5th of October, 2017.
The twenty woman list is fortified by two foreign players, Verera Oyearone (London based) and Ebele Promise who were invited by Coach Usman Abdullahi.
The Team Nigeria Women list includes; Umeh Helen, Jalmet Ladi, Dusu Esther, Ibe Chimdiya, Amaonwu Comfort, Nwosu Chimeye, Agera Precillia, Mary Ali, Umaru Aisha and Francis Albertina.
Others are; Ikhiede Francisca, Iwobi Kelechi, Okonma Theresa, John Mary, Nnachi Chinedu, Achi Sharon, Ifeako Patience and Ene Odoh.
Nigeria will compete in Yaounde along with hosts,Cameroon, Algeria, Ghana & Cape Verde.
Others are Egypt, Botswana, Tunisia, Chad, Congo RD, Kenya, Zambia & Senegal.
The Head coach, Usman Abdalah said the players are in good shape and ready to make the nation proud by winning the ticket for the 2018 women world cup.
The President of the country’s Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod in a chat with aclsports.com appreciated both players and coaches for their endurance as well as perseverance so far in camp.
He promised the federation’s continued support for the team till the dream of winning the world cup is realised.
