2015 AAG bronze medallists, Fatima Bashir and Franca Audu, 2018 National Sports Festival bronze medallist, Miracle Cyprian and 2018 National Sports Festival Champion, Joseph David emerged champions in their respective categories at the just concluded National Judo trials held in Lagos.

Fatima Bashir of Delta state defeated Olayinka Azeez of Ondo state in the female -48kg weight class. The former junior champion, Olayinka Azeez almost pulled a surprise but the National champion, Fatima Bashir took the lead few minutes to the end of the bout.

Meanwhile, reigning national champion, Franca Audu of Delta state beat Charity Jatau of Yobe in the male -53kg weight class.

Franca Audu told www.aclsports.com that the final was a tough one because her opponent is her teammate at the same dojo.

The 2015 All Africa Games bronze medallist disclosed that her target is to better her performance at this year’s All Africa Games.

Audu said, “The final was tricky because the Charity is my teammate. She knows my skills, technique and special moves but I was able to beat her due to experience. The next target is to go to the All Africa Games and make Nigeria proud once again”.

Miracle Cyprian of Rivers state pulled a surprise in the final as he defeated Abdullahi Ibrahim of Yobe state in the male -90kg weight class to become the newly crowned national champion

Meanwhile Joseph David of Nigeria Police Force beat Usama Okunbor of Edo state in the male +100kg weight class.

Gold: Franca Audu (Delta state) and Silver: Charity Jatau (Yobe state)

Gold: Enku Ekuta (Akwa Ibom) and Silver: Cecelia James (Ondo state)

 

-63kg

Gold: Victoria Agbodobivi (Edo state) and Silver: Elizabeth Peter

Gold: Adijat Azeez (Ondo state) and Silver: Joy Asonye (Delta state)

 

-78kg

Gold: Sarah Attah (Yobe state) and Silver: Winnie Gofit (Nigeria Army)

Gold: Adewunmi Akintunde (Lagos state) and Silver: Nkem Agbo (Rivers state)

Gold: Michael Agbo (Delta state) and Silver: Kehinde Aremu (Ogun state)
