Nigeria’s home based Super Eagles side have intensified preparations for Saturday’s match against Cape Verde in the WAFU Cup of Nations tournament in Senegal.

The Eagles, led by head coach Imama Amapakabo were beaten 2-1 by Togo on Sunday, thereby dropping to the Plate competition where they will face Cape Verde in the quarter finals.

The team have since continued their preparation with a daily training session at 7:30am in their base in Mbour, near Thies since Monday.

They are scheduled to have two sessions on Wednesday (morning and evening) as they prepare to face the Cape Verdians on Saturday at the Stade Lat-Dor in Thies.

Just like Nigeria, Cape Verde lost to Coted’voire in their first game of the competition which meant they drop to the second tier Plate Competition of this year’s WAFU Cup of Nations.

Nigeria will be without team captain Mfon Udoh who was the villain of the loss to Togo on Sunday. Udoh who had twice spurned glorious opportunities to score for the Eagles was red carded in the stoppage time of the 1-2 loss.

Nigeria will face Cape Verde on Saturday at the same stadium in Thies before Togo and Coted’voire clash in the quarter final of the Cup section of the draw.
