Oluyole Spikers of Ibadan has extended their unbeaten run to four matches on Day 2 of the ongoing 2023 National Division 2 Volleyball League in Owerri, Imo State.

The Ibadan-based volleyball club defeated Olalomi Royal VC of Offa VC 3-0 (31-29, 28-26, 25-16) in their third match of the league. The young side came from one set down to beat Udogu Spikers of Port Harcourt 3-1 (21-25, 25-10, 25-20, 25-7) on Tuesday.

The coach of Oluyole Spikers, Aboderin Ayokunnu told www.aclsports.com that his side is working towards promotion to the National Division 1 League.

The FIVB Level 1 Coach said the team needs to work hard in order to win their remaining six matches.

He said, “I feel we still need to work more to ensure we win our remaining six matches. I always tell my boys that we do not have business in Division 2 if not for financial difficulties.

“We are working towards getting promotion this time around before crossing over to the Premier League where the boys can showcase themselves.”

Ayokunnu attributed their attendance at the Division 2 league to volleyball philanthropists within and outside Oyo State.

He said, “I want to thank our sponsors most especially our association members; Dr Soroye, Prince Tunde Omisore (South West Zonal Representative on NVBF) who has offered us great support, and other Oyo State Volleyball association members. They have been very supportive because, without them, the team will not be in this league. We promise to make them proud.”
