Captain of Nigeria Senior Women’s Volleyball Team, Ijeoma Ukpabi has joined Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) VC for the 2024/2025 Rwanda Volleyball National League (Serie A).

The former COAS Spikers player told www.aclsports.com that she plans to inspire the team to win a silverware.

She said Rwanda Volleyball League is one of the most competitive leagues in Africa.

Ukpabi said, “I am glad I finally decided to move beyond what I thought my volleyball career would be. In Nigeria, I was torn between family obligations and her dreams because people always asked me why I did not go professional. I told them family comes first but signing for the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) VC has opened a new chapter in my life; the decision to leave home had not been easy”.

Asked how she will cope in the Rwandan league, Ukpabi said, “The competition is fierce, but it’s never beyond me. I have what it takes to excel in the league; I have done it in the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League and I will do it again here.

“The Rwandan League is well-managed, with standards that consistently improved each season. I have participated for RRA VC in two International Championships winning the 2024 NSSF KAVC Volleyball Championship where I won the Best Receiver in the women’s category.

“I am eager to prove myself this season because we finished third position in the 2023/2024 Rwanda Volleyball National League (Serie A). The league was unpredictable, filled with fierce competitors and rising talents.

“With the season ahead full of promise and challenges, I am ready to embrace the journey,” she told www.aclsports.com
