Katsina United head coach Usman Shariff Abd’Allah has promised to ensure his side returns to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) by picking one of the promotion tickets at the season-ending playoff in Asaba, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Nigeria National League Super 8 playoff will take centre stage in the first week of July as the eight group winners from the regular season slug it out at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba for promotion tickets to the topflight.

Abd’Allah, who won the NPFL title with Enyimba in 2019, is keen to take the Changi boys back to the top division after just a season in the second tier and he believes they are on course.

“This is a task that we must accomplish as a group. My boys know this, we are focused on achieving this goal, and make no pretenses about it”, he told NNL Media.

Abd’Allah, who is also part of the Super Eagles technical crew under Jose Peseiro, previously worked with Kano Pillars before his success at Enyimba FC, then Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, and later Katsina United in the second tier.

“I got plenty of offers before joining Katsina United. Having earlier been at three NPFL sides, I preferred coaching in the NNL, because it comes with entirely new experience for me. It’s a tougher league”, he added.

“In my quest for a better and fulfilling coaching career, I also sought other experiences, during which I enriched my knowledge by obtaining the Asian Preliminary and C Licenses, as well.

Meanwhile, Katsina United have beefed up their squad with the addition of Victor Mbaoma, Azeez Olamilekan, and Bolaji Sakin ahead of the playoff.

The UEFA Pro Licenced-coach knows what is at stake for his side following their success during the course of the regular season where they lost just one of their ten games.
