Aliyu Zubairu’s boys, who finished in third place at the U20 AFCON in Egypt, will slug it out with the hosts, and their neighbours for a place in the semifinals, with two slots available to each group. In Group B – Cote D’Ivoire will do battle with Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo.

The third edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place from July 10 to 23, 2025, at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram. This event serves as a key platform for nurturing young talent in the West African sub-region.

The Nigerian team had been preparing in Abuja for the tournament before it was postponed by WAFU. The competition was initially scheduled for June 15 – June 30, but with a new date and group draws done, Zubairu and his team have since returned to camp for preparations.

The Flying Eagles will also use it as a preparatory tournament for the upcoming 2025 World Youth Championships in Chile, later this year.
