Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu nets his first goal to help Trabzonspor beat Kasimpasa 2-1 in the Turkish Super Lig game decided on Friday, www.aclsports.com reports.

The lanky forward, fresh from winning a bronze medal with the Super Eagles at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, returned to club action to steer his side to their first league win of 2026.

Onuachu, who had scored 11 times in the season before heading to the AFCON with the Super Eagles, came off the bench to open the scoring in the game played at Papara Park in Trabzon on Friday night.

With the game goalless, the 31-year-old replaced Kazeem Olaigbe at the break. Just six minutes after the restart, the former Southampton forward created a space for himself with a bit of skill before firing in off the goalpost to put his side in the lead.

However, the visitors got themselves levelled just ten minutes later through Malian Fousseni Diabate. With time running out, former Super Eagles invitee Anthony Nwakaeme provided the assist for Oleksandr Zubkov to grab the winner for the home side. In the end, Trabzonspor held on for their first league win since early December.

Apart from the duo of Onuachu and Nwakaeme, newboy Chibuike Nwaiwu played the entire duration of the match – his third successive appearance for the Turkish club since arriving from Wolfsberger this January.

With the win, Trabzonspor moved just two points off Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray, who are currently top of the log after 19 matches. The Black Sea Storm will now travel to face Antalyaspor in their next league game next weekend.
