Guinea national U17 side on Sunday beat Morocco 1-0 in their final group game at the TotalAFCONU17 tournament in Tanzania to qualify for the semi-final of the championship and set up a clash with two-time winners; Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets.

Substitute Momo Touré scored the only goal of the game decided at the Chamazi Stadium, Mbagala, five minutes after coming off the bench to send the Guineans to the 2019 FIFA Under-17 World Championship to be staged in Brazil later in the year.

Sunday’s win ensured Guinea finish second in Group B behind Cameroon who were held to a 0-0 draw by Senegal in the other group game in Dar es Salaam also on Sunday. The Guineans will travel to the capital city for the first time since the start of the competition to face Nigeria.

The Golden Eaglets, coached by Manu Garba finished top of Group A with seven points from three games after they held Uganda to a 1-1 draw in Mbagala on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams will contest the tournament’s first semi-final game in Dar es Salaam at 4pm local time (2PM Nigerian time) on Wednesday, 24th April before the second semi-final game later that evening between Cameroon and Angola.

All four semi-finalists have qualified to represent Africa at the FIFA Under-17 World Championship to be hosted by Brazil in a later date this year.
