Middlesbrough manager, Tony Pulis, has once again lavished praises on his Nigerian star, John Obi Mikel, ahead of their game against Brentford on Saturday.
The Super Eagles captain has become a hero at Riverside following his impressive performances for the Sky Bet Championship side since he arrived the club on a free transfer from Chinese club, Tianjin Teda, in January.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Pulis says the Chelsea legend has been a great influence and inspiration to his teammates since he arrived at the club.
“You don’t win the trophies he’s won for no reason,” Pulis told the club’s official website. “When you’ve got young players working with a top player- who’s won everything in the game, it really inspires them.”
“He’ll give credit to the other players around him, I’ve spoken to him and he’s done that,” he added.
Boro, who have only lost once [to Sheffield United] since Mikel joined the club, will continue their chase for promotion this Saturday when they host Brentford at the Riverside Brentford.
Pulis’s side currently sit fifth on the log with 58 points from 34 matches and would be hoping Mikel can lead them to another three points later today.
