Nigeria’s Sade Olatoye secured the silver medal in the women’s hammer throw at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh on Tuesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Olatoye began her attempts with a throw of 60.58m and gradually improved, reaching 61.91m in the second round. She then recorded her top mark of 63.34m in the third attempt, followed by a solid 63.30m in the fourth, holding the lead for much of the contest.

Algeria’s Tatar Zhara surged ahead in the fifth round with a decisive throw of 63.55m. Olatoye tried to respond but fouled her final two attempts, settling for the silver medal.

Uzbekistan’s Zarinakhon Nosirjonova took Bronze with a best throw of 61.69m.

Olatoye’s podium finish adds to Nigeria’s growing medal tally in Athletics at the Games, strengthening the nation’s presence in the field events.
