Nigeria Super Eagles Forward Victor Osimhen hit a brace in Napoli’s 3-1 win over Frosinone as his side’s Serie A defence began in style, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Nigerian Striker, who played a key role in his side’s first league title success in over thirty years last season, was heavily involved in his side’s first game of the season as Rudi Garcia-reign begins on a winning note.

An Abdou Harroui penalty had given the newly-promoted side the lead but strikes from Osimhen, either side of a Matteo Politano effort, ensured that the defending Serie A champions began with a win at Stadio Benito Stirpe.

It was the home side who took the lead in the seventh minute after Jaime Baez was bundled to the ground by Napoli’s Jens Cajuste. Harroui took responsibility and he made no mistake from the spot. After weathering so much pressure, Napoli got back on level terms through Politano in the 24th minute. It was an emphatic finish from the winger which left the goalkeeper stranded.

The away team took the lead right before halftime thanks to last season’s top scorer Osimhen, as he powered home a cutback from inside the box by his captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Buoyed by the swift change of things, Napoli continued to dominate after the break and it was no surprise that it was the Super Eagles forward that ensured all three points will be for his side. The former Lille man finished off an inch-perfect ball threaded through to him from the right.

The 24-year-old scored 26 Seria A goals last season to claim the Golden Boot award and has now started the season in the same vein with the hope of leading Partenopei to success.
