The Italian Serie A entered week two with Super Eagles players, William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina and Joel Obi featuring for their respective teams.

Troost-Ekong was rock solid for his new side, Udinese, helping them to their first victory and clean sheet of the season after they defeated Sampdoria at Stadio Friuli.

The 25-year-old starred from start to finish in what was his home league debut for the Bianconeri, who defeated Sampdoria 1-0 thanks to a Rodrigo de Paul first half strike.

A dream debut for the ex-Bursaspor man, who finished the game with ten clearances and two interceptions.

At the San Siro, Ola Aina came from the bench to help his side to a memorable point against Inter Milan.

Aina replaced the injured Cristian Daniel Ansaldi with Torino already 1-0 down.

Ten minutes after he came on, things got worse for Aina and Torino, as defender Stefan de Vrij doubled the Nerazzurri’s advantage ensuring they went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead

However, it would be a game of two halves, as the visitors mounted a fight back. Andre Belotti pulled one back after the break, before Soualiho Meite completed the comeback with Nigeria’s Aina involved in the build up to the goal.

It was Aina’s second appearance for the club since joining them on loan from English Premier League side, Chelsea.

Meanwhile, while Ekong and Aina were doing the business for their sides, Joel Obi and his club, Chievo Verona were getting humiliated at the Artemio Firenze.

Like Aina, Obi was also a substitute but he replaced Perparim Hetemaj just before the start of the second half with his side already 2-0 behind against Fiorentina.

The home side went on to add four more goals, with Nemad Tomovic’s goal for Chievo turning out nothing but a consolation as Fiorentina ran out 6-1 winners.

The result means Obi’s side remains rooted to the bottom of the league with zero points having lost their opening two matches.
