Nigeria is ready to host the 2018 men’s U21 Africa Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimord told www.aclsports.com.

The Africa U21 Volleyball Nations Championship is scheduled for 10th to 17th September, 2018 in Abuja, Nigeria.

Nimord confirmed the hosting after the Nigeria Volleyball Federation Extra Ordinary Board Meeting on Friday.

He said the hosting right letter was sent to Nigeria on August 12th 2018 and the major reason why the Executive Board Meeting was held.

He believed that despite short notice Nigeria will not only have a successful hosting but also a successful outing adding that thirteen countries will participate in the male U-21 volleyball tournament.

“It is a done deal that Nigeria will host this year’s Africa U21 men’s Nations Cup. The board members present at the meeting pledged their supports, while the three absent also extended their pledge”.

“The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) sent the letter for hosting to Nigeria on August 12th because they believe Nigeria is now ripe to host African Championships and Nigeria promises not to disappoint Africa”, he said.

Nimrod lauded Egypt and Tunisia for securing the hosting of two age group World Championships in 2019.

“The hosting of the 2019 Girls’ U18 World Championship in Egypt and the Boys’ U19 World Championship in Tunisia is a welcome development. This means Nigeria will have to begin preparations ahead of the Championship in Tunisia”.
