Sadio Mané is unhappy with his performance so far this season for his side Liverpool, who are struggling to wrap up a dismal campaign two years after conquering Europe.
The 29-year-old striker has been able to achieve some success in front of goal, hitting the net 14 times and providing six assists in all competitions, but he is not satisfied and wants to know what’s wrong.
“This season is the worst season of my career, you have to admit it. Today you’re asking me the question (what’s wrong?), I would have a hard time answering, because personally I don’t know,” Mané said in an interview with French cable TV, Canal+, on Sunday.
“I even did a test to see if my body was okay, if I was eating well or if everything has changed. But, they have checked and everything is fine,”
Liverpool failed to progress from the quarter-finals of the ongoing UEFA Champions League and are currently far from the Premier League podium at position six. Hopes of defending their 2020 title have long vanished.
“I’ve always tried to be positive, no matter how good or bad it goes. But this time I keep questioning myself, what happened to me,” the Senegal international said.
