Fans of Turkish Super Lig side Çaykur Rizespor have continued to pour adulation on Nigerian midfielder Ibrahim Olawoyin after another solid showing from him inspired the team to go top of the table on Friday night.

Playing at their home ground, the Çaykur Didi Stadium, Rizespor made it two wins in a row after they beat Fatih Karagumruk 1-0 courtesy of Dal Varesañovic’s 45th minute strike.

Former Rangers International star Olawoyin tacitly had a hand in the game’s lone goal after his decisive clearance from a corner kick defending situation set Rizespor on a counter attack which resulted in Mithat Pala crossing for Varesañovic who finished expertly from close range.

The win means that Ilhan Palut’s Rizespor, who have now gone three games unbeaten after losing their first game of the season are now top of the Turkish Super Lig table although with games advantage over Fenerbahçe and a few others.

During and after Friday night’s match against Karagumruk, Rizespor fans took turn to write pleasant things about the former Rangers International star while some  even predicted he will leave for mainstream Europe soon.

Olawoyin'e değinmek istiyorum. Önümüzdeki yıl mutlaka Avrupa'ya transfer yapacağını düşünüyorum. Bu performansını sürdürürse devre arasında da transfer olabilir. Onu tutmak zor olacak.#Rizespor

Olawoyin sonraki yıl Avrupa'ya transfer yapar. Böyle oynamaya devam ederse sezon ortasında da gidebilir. Rizespor onu tutmakta zorlanacak.#Rizespor@CRizesporAS

Another fan even went as far as demanding that Ibrahim Olawoyin’s statue be erected at the club, immediately.

Olawoyin.. Rizenin girişine heykeli dikilmesi gereken adam müthiş maç çıkardın süpersin efsanesin.. 🫅🔥 @brymzy10

Olawoyin featured for 89 minutes in Friday’s win before he was replaced by Uzbekistan defender Husniddin Alikulov as Ilhan Palut sought to close out the game.

Çaykur Rizespor will face Konyaspor in their next Super Lig game after the international break, on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
