Nigeria international, Wilfred Ndidi, scored his second goal in the Premier League as ten-man Southampton defeated Leicester City 1-2 at the King Power stadium.

The Foxes found themselves 2-0 down in the first half courtesy of goals from James Ward-Prowse, who converted an early penalty, and Shane Long.

Long’s goal, however, came in added time of the first half, just moments after his team mate, Yan Valery, received his marching orders following a second yellow card.

After the restart, Ndidi then pulled one back for the hosts when he poked home a cross from Ricardo Pereira to give his side a lifeline.

Ndidi almost rescued a point for his side, but failed to direct his header off a James Maddison cross from a corner kick at goal in added time.

Therefore, his goal would be nothing but a consolation as the Saints held off a late barrage of attacks from the defensive midfielder and his team mates to record just their fourth win of the PL campaign.

Southampton move up to 16th on the log on 19points with the result while Ndidi’s Europa League chasing Leicester drop to eighth on 31points.

That game was Ndidi’s 22nd of the season for Leicester.
