World Record holder, Paul Kehinde on Thursday told Aclsports.com that he intends to set another World Record at the 2017 World Para powerlifting Championships in Mexico.

The World Championship is scheduled to hold from 30th September to 7th October, 2017.

Kehinde won a gold in the 65kg category at the 2015 IPC Powerlifting Asian Open championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

In a chat with the World Champion, Kehinde said training has been ongoing since February for the Championship adding that history will be made in Mexico.

I’ll make sure my performance at the championship in Mexico surpasses last 2 years own – he said.

“I want to set another record in Mexico to cement my name and Nigeria at the World scene. Missing two international tournaments before this will not stop me. I’m sure the Egyptians and Chinese are planning to surprise Nigeria, but that is in their widest imagination”, the World champion pointed out.

He called on the private sector and philanthropists to invest in the special sport, and promised never to let the country down.

Kehinde twice broke the men’s -65kg World Record (WR) in the Powerlifting event lifting an astonishing 220kg to claim gold in style at the Rio Games.
