Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka, has secured promotion to the Premier League from the Championship with Coventry City after Friday night’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers, www.aclsports.com reports.
In the game at Rovers, Coventry needed just a point to secure their return to the elite division for the first time in 25 years, and they did just that. It was a tense game between the two sides at Edwood Park, with the home side limiting the visitors to zero shots on target in the first 45 minutes.
After the break, Rovers took the lead through Ryoya Morishita’s goal nine minutes into the restart. That goal woke Lampard’s men up, as they enjoyed the lion’s share of possession.
For all their efforts, it took a late goal from Bobby Thomas to draw them level with just six minutes left to play. In the end, they secured the point, as well as promotion back to the Premier League with three games to go.
Onyeka, who was one of the standout players for Coventry before his substitution just after the hour mark, has made 12 appearances for the Sky Blues since his arrival in January. He also has a goal of his own.
Meanwhile, compatriot Ryan Alebiosu featured for Rovers for the entire duration of the game.
