Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has joined Portuguese champions Benfica Women following her departure from Galatasaray, www.aclsports.com reports.
Benfica announced the signing on Monday, confirming that the 24-year-old has moved to the club on a free transfer after leaving Galatasaray, with her contract running until 2029.
Speaking after her arrival, Demehin expressed her excitement about joining Benfica and the opportunity to continue her development with the Portuguese champions.
“Benfica is the best club in Portugal and one of the best clubs in the world. That’s why I know that, being here, I can improve my performance.”
Demehin also revealed that she spoke with national team-mate and former Benfica player Christy Ucheibe during the Super Falcons’ training camp before making the move.
“Before coming here, I spoke with her (Ucheibe) during the National Team’s training camp. She told me many nice things about the Club”.
Demehin joins fellow Nigerians Janet Akekoromowei and Flourish Sabastine at Benfica, with both players also joining the club during the current transfer window.
