Former Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo will continue his fairytale at Manchester United after he extended his loan at the club on Monday.

Ighalo has put pen to paper on a short-term deal that will see him remain at United until January 31, 2021, www.aclsports.com can confirm.

This development was confirmed by the English club after reaching an agreement with Ighalo’s Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua.

“United have reached an agreement with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua to extend the loan deal for Odion Ighalo, ” the club said in a statement on their official website.

Ighalo, who joined the club in January 2020, was due to leave the Red Devils following the expiration of his initial stay on Sunday, May 31.

However, with the new deal, the 2019 AFCON top scorer will continue to live his dream of playing for Manchester United, a club he has supported since he was a boy.

Speaking on the deal, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Ighalo can now settle down to complete what he has started.

“It’s been a dream for him, ” Solskjaer said. “Hopefully, he can finish what he started and win a trophy with us (United).”

Ighalo has scored four goals in eight appearances for United in the 2019/2020 season with three of those goals coming in just three starts for the Red Devils.

With this deal out of the way, the 30-year-old from Agege, Nigeria, can now focus on helping United finish strongly in the Premier League, which is due to restart in June 17 after it was halted by the Coronavirus pandemic.
