Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Delta Queens, have sacked head coach Samson Keshi with immediate effect, www.aclsports.com reports.

In a statement released by the Delta State Sports Commission, the dismissal was attributed to gross misconduct and unprofessional behaviour, which were deemed detrimental to the progress of the team in the 2026/2027 season.

Keshi, who was appointed at the beginning of the season and had been in charge of Delta Queens, was reportedly involved in repeated acts of bullying towards players and officials, defiance of management directives, and threats to resign despite multiple warnings. His conduct during the team’s recent clash against Ahudiyannen Queens in Umuahia on 14 January 2026 was also cited, with the Commission noting that he raised false alarms against the opposition, creating unnecessary tension.

The move comes after a string of poor results, including a 1-0 home defeat to Abia Angels FC, a team considered lower-ranked, which reportedly sealed Keshi’s fate.

Following his dismissal, Maureen Ajibade has been appointed as the new Head Coach of Delta Queens FC, supported by coaches Susan Aliyah and Jennifer Ajuyah. The Commission has also instructed Keshi to hand over all club property to the General Manager immediately.

This marks a major shake-up for Delta Queens, who are now looking to stabilise ahead of the remainder of the NWFL season. Executive Chairman Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori has warned that any acts of indiscipline from players or officials will not be tolerated and will lead to immediate dismissal.
