After a long break the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) returned this weekend and match day 10 saw Rivers Angels and Sunshine Queens maintain top spot in both Group A and B as the race for the Super 4 heats up.

Group A recorded a good number of wins as Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens and Delta Queens all ended matchday 10 with three points.

Three second half goals in Ilorin ensured that reigning AITEO Cup champions, River Angels bagged a crucial away victory against Sure Babes following a dominant display. Also in Benin, Bayelsa Queens defeated Edo Queens 3-1 in another important away victory.

Delta Queens however halted the stride with a convincing 2-0 home win over Ibom Angels.

In Group B, a 61st minute header from Opeyori Foluke gave league debutants Jokodolu Babes a vital win over table toppers Sunshine Queens of Akure as the battle for survival by the Obinrin rere Queens continues.

In other centres Pelican Stars played out a goalless draw with defending champions, Nasarawa Amazons in Calabar; while Adamawa Queens defeated FC Robo by two unreplied goals to keep survival hopes alive.

The final game of the group was an entertaining 2-2 draw between Osun Babes and Abia Angels as Ebere Oleka grabbed a late equaliser to snatch a point for the home team.
