Week nine of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership saw league leaders, Bayelsa Queens drop points in Osogbo while their closest rivals, Rivers Angels failed to captilise.

Charity Reuben opened the scoring with her sixth goal of the season for the league leaders but Osun Babes equalised through Grace Marcus to maintain their unbeaten home record for the season.

Following this result, Rivers Angels needed an away win against DreamStar FC Ladies of Lagos to topple Bayelsa Queens at the top of the table but the reigning champions were only able to settle for a 1-1 draw in Lagos.

Kalu Favour gave the home team the lead with a well taken goal in the 21st minute but a late equaliser five minutes from regulation time courtesy of Abiodun Deborah, helped Rivers Angels pick an important point which moves them within one point of Bayelsa Queens who remain at the top of the table.

Another 1-1 draw on Matchday nine happened between Pelican Stars and Nasarawa Amazons. Igboamalu Chinyere scored the opening goal for Nasarawa Amazons before Pelican Stars equalised through Ogechi Ukwuoma.

Meanwhile Edo Queens pipped FC Robo to a 2-1 victory with goals from Maryanm Ohadiwe and Glory Osaghae. Esther Onyenezide pulled one goal back for FC Robo Queens but it was not enough to earn the Lagos-based side any point from the fixture.

Furthermore, Confluence Queens earned their first away win of the season courtesy of Titilayo Aweda’s goal.
