The battle to win Group B gets tougher with each Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) match day as Sunshine Queens and Nasarawa Amazons who are separated by just two points recorded victories in their respective games.

Goals from Tina Oyathelemhi and Tosin Dimehin handed the Akure based team a convincing win over the league’s most successful side. While Super 4 Champions, Nasarawa Amazons survived an early scare from Osun Babes to keep up the pressure at the top of the table.

The defending champions were down as early as the fifth minute after Koku Damilola found the back of the net for Osun Babes. However, Victor Esther levelled for the Amazons just before the half hour mark with Ejalonibu Adejoke adding a second less than five mins into the second half to seal all three points for the home team.

Still in Group B, Goals from Adeola Adeniran and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu gave Abia Angels all three points against Adamawa Queens following a 4-0 thumping in the hands of Rasheedat Ajibade and FC Robo last matchday in Lagos.

Following a good outing last week and in the AITEO Cup at the weekend, Esther Ndubuisi’s 80th minute strike ensured all three points for FC Robo against league debutants, Jokodolu Babes.

In Group A, a brace from Alice Ogebe helped last year’s AITEO Cup winners, Rivers Angels to a famous win over Delta Queens who were unbeaten coming into matchday 9.

River Angels raced into a two goal lead with goals from Cecilia Nku and Alice Ogebe but Delta Queens soon reduced the deficit and looked to comeback into the game before Alice Ogebe struck again to seal all three points and top spot for the home team at least for another week.

With two games in Group A yet to be played, the final game of the group decided on Wednesday saw Ibom Angels come from a goal down to defeat Edo Queens 2-1 and move level on points with Delta Queens in second position.
