Matchday six of the NWFL Premiership saw Pelican Stars of Calabar get a much needed away win which was also their first win as Edo Queens tasted defeat for the first time this season.

At the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos, Mercy Idoko’s 21st minute goal was enough to seal an important away win for Pelican Stars against Dreamstar Ladies. In the closing stages, Dreamstar Ladies had a golden opportunity to level the scoreline from the spot but the spotkick was missed as the team continues to languish in relegation waters at the bottom of the table.

Edo Queens on the otherhand were handed their first defeat of the season in a thrilling 3-2 loss away to Bayelsa Queens. The home team took the lead and were pegged back twice before Ruben Charity scored the decisive goal in the 92nd minute to seal all 3 points for her side.

In Port-Harcourt, defending champions Rivers Angels maintained their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win over Osun Babes. Cynthia Aku gave the champions the lead but were pegged back almost immediately by Yemisi Samuel’s goal as the first period ended in a 1-1 draw. However in the 49th minute, Damilola Koku stood up to be counted, giving her side the lead in what eventually emerged the winner.
