Gymnasts hoping to begin performances on Thursday at the ongoing 21st edition of the National Sports Festival holding in Delta State, had their hopes dashed, as their event did not begin as originally scheduled.

According to information gathered by our correspondent, the event could not begin as originally planned due to the absence of lighting equipment in the gym in the newly built multipurpose sports hall at the Stephen Keshi stadium complex.

One of the coaches of the host team told ACLsports.com, that due to the absence of lighting equipment, performance by the gymnasts would have to take place at a later date, probably during the weekend.

Recall that the festival, originally slated for the 14th of November 2022, was postponed for about two weeks to enable the hosts to tidy up their obligations necessary for the festival, especially infrastructural development.
