Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma remains humble as his side hope to continue their winning start to the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Eguma’s wards have won their first three matches of the season, scoring five goals and conceding none; the latest, a 3-0 thumping of Kwara United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The Pride of Rivers are en route to Bauchi where they will face winless Wikki Tourists in their Match Day 4 encounter on Wednesday. Eguma told www.aclsports.com that they will try to continue their winning run (which is five matches in all competitions).

“We are not going to be boastful now because we know it is the game football but we will try our best to ensure that we maintain our winning streak,” Eguma told www.aclsports.com

The Rivers State born coach is the longest serving head coach in the division and was in charge of Dolphins FC when they won the league ten years ago.

The former Gabros coach admits that his side’s target is to win the league but will have to take it game after game.

“Our target is to win the league but for now it’s not yet time to determine that because the league is still young so we will be taking it game after game until we get to a stage where we can say yes, we are winning the league,” said Eguma.

Rivers United are two points clear at the summit of the NPFL table after just three matches and will be hoping to consolidate on their brilliant start at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi on Wednesday.
