Lagos based side MFM FC consolidated on their leadership position in Group A of the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) when they edged their hosts Remo Stars 1-0 in one of the Match Day seven games decided on Wednesday.

Striker Kabiru Adeniji scored the only goal in the South West derby decided at the Osogbo Township Stadium where Remo Stars were banished to after crowd disturbance in their first home game of the season.

MFM remain top with twelve points from six matches, three points clear of their nearest rivals Rivers United who were held to a 0-0 draw at home at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt by Kwara United.

Newly promoted Kada City returned to winning ways in a come-from-behind 2-1 win over El-Kanemi Warriors in Kaduna. Mohammed BabaGanaru’s El-Kanemi went in front in the 16th minute through Kabiru Umar but old warhorse Kabiru Sanusi came on from the bench to turn the game on its head.

The hosts drew level through Anayo Iwuala who poked home a rebound after Itodo Akor had saved Sanusi’s penalty in the 69th minute but the ageless striker won it in stoppage time with a trademark free kick, ensuring that Kada win for the first time since their first match of the campaign.

In the same group, Go Round produced a good performance to beat Kano Pillars 2-1 at the KrisDera Hotel Stadium in Omoku. The hosts went in front through defender Akaba Otega in the 33rd minute but Pillars levelled through a deflected free kick by Rabiu Ali on the dot of half time. Winger Adeseun Adelani won it for his side in the 51st minute with a spectacular effort.

Normalcy was restored in Nnewi where FC Ifeanyiubah defeated Gombe United 2-0 to return to the top of the group. Substitute Uche Onuoha gave the Anambra Warriors the lead before in-form Nonzo Nzediegwu added icing to the cake in stoppage time as Ladan Bosso returned home empty-handed with his Gombe side.

In nearby Umuahia, Samson Obi continued from where he stopped at the weekend when his long range effort handed Abia Warriors a 1-0 win over Heartland in Umuahia. The win takes Warriors to fifth place on the log just behind Go Round FC.
