Shooting Stars head coach Edith Agoye has admitted that his side was lucky to have managed a draw against Wikki Tourists on Sunday.
The Oluyole Warriors played out a goalless draw with the Elephants in a matchday 14 encounter of the Nigeria Professional Football League at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
“The game ended goalless, but it could have gone either way. It could have gone the way of Wikki Tourists; they had their chances in the first half but we were very lucky not to have conceded. I think we were much better in the second half and tried to create something but we could not do enough to score a goal,” began the former striker to reporters after the game.
On his further assessment of the game, he confessed that Kabiru Dogo’s side was technically sound in the contest and hopes his side learned a few things from the encounter.
“Wikki Tourists team was a very strong team physically and tactically. Normally, we tried to build from the back but we couldn’t do that due to obvious reasons. They took more of the first and second balls and on a few occasions, we were able to build from the back, we got better.
“Wikki is a team that is strong in some certain areas and we tried as much as possible to bring a team that will be able to deal with whatever they bring here. Yes, It was not an easy game for us today, it was a bit difficult for us. Lessons learned and we will move forward from this game,” He concluded.
This is the third time the Ibadan side will be dropping points at home this season, they currently sit tenth on the log and will travel to face Abia Warriors in Okigwe on matchday 15 next Sunday.
